Names released of 2 dead after industrial accident in Grand Tower

GRAND TOWER, Ill. (KBSI) – The Jackson County coroner released the names of two people killed in an industrial accident in Grand Tower on Monday.

Jackson County Coroner Thomas W. Kupferer says Barabara Lynn Reid, 47, of Wiggins, Mississippi and Brandon Clay Durand, 43, of Pollic, Mississippi were killed in the accident.

Two others were injured in the industrial accident.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call Monday, October 23 around 4:49 p.m. about an industrial accident near the intersection of Brunkhorst Road and 20th Street in Grand Tower.

It was at the construction site of the Kinder Morgan Gas Pipeline.

Initial reports indicated multiple people were injured.

Reid and Durand suffered deadly injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Carson Bunton with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Two other people were taken by ambulance to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation continues.

Members of the Tower Rock Fire Department, Grand Tower Fire Department, Jackson County Ambulance Service, Union County Ambulance Service, Grand Tower Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County Coroner’s Office responded to assist.
