National Quilt Museum to host free Quilts of Valor ceremony Jan. 7

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The National Quilt Museum will host a Quilts of Valor Award Ceremony at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, in the museum’s main gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
Several service members and veterans will receive quilts from the Quilts of Valor Foundation, including quilts featured in the museum’s recent exhibition, Countdown to America250.

The exhibition marked the countdown to the nation’s 250th anniversary and commemorated the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Founded in 2003, the Quilts of Valor Foundation’s mission is to provide comforting and healing quilts to service members and veterans affected by war. To date, the organization has presented more than 400,000 quilts made by more than 11,000 volunteers nationwide.

The National Quilt Museum is located at 215 Jefferson St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and military, $5 for students, and free for children under 12 with a paying adult and museum members.
