New outlet for behavioral health in Cape Girardeau

Doors set to open at the Behavioral Health Crisis Center March 13

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Behavioral Health Crisis Center opened its doors with a ribbon cutting and open house Friday in Cape Girardeau.

The doors officially open to the public March 13.

A partnership between the Gibson Center for Behavioral Change and Community Counseling Center has brought to life a new state of the art facility.

The Behavioral Health Crisis Center is a 24/7, no wrong door approach for those experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

“They’ll come in, they’ll be able to see a doctor, they’ll get access to counseling services, group services,” said Savannah Martin, the program manager with the Behavioral Health Crisis Center.

The crisis center will assist people with creating a personal safety plan and provide links to community resources, creating a necessary pipeline for the community.

The Behavioral Health Crisis Center has been in the works for nearly seven years, Martin said.
