New fire engine goes into service in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn., (KBSI) — Madison County Fire Department has placed a new fire engine into service at Station 17 on the west side of the county.

The department said Engine 17 was purchased as part of its July 2024 budget and arrived about a week before being placed into service. Crews spent the following days equipping the engine and training firefighters who will operate it.

Engine 17 is a custom-cab fire engine with self-contained breathing apparatus equipment mounted inside the cab. It can carry 1,000 gallons of water, providing firefighters with an immediate water supply when responding to fires, particularly in areas without a readily available water source.

The addition brings the department’s fleet to five custom-cab fire engines serving its full-time stations.

The department thanked Madison County commissioners, the county mayor and taxpayers for supporting the purchase.
