MARION, Ill., (KBSI) – A new Hampton Inn by Hilton is officially under construction in Marion through a partnership between Oasis Enterprises and Smith Hafeli, bringing another major development to the city’s growing STAR Bonds District.
The hotel is being built adjacent to the 94-acre, $40 million Oasis Sports Complex and the upcoming Mammoth Fieldhouse, a multi-sport facility expected to draw thousands of visitors to the area each year. Construction is already underway, with an expected opening in summer 2026.
Once complete, the hotel will feature 109 guest rooms, a complimentary hot breakfast, and amenities consistent with Hampton Inn’s national standards. The location will also provide convenient access to shopping, dining, and entertainment within the district.
“This hotel expands lodging options for our visitors, supports our sports and event infrastructure, and contributes to economic vitality in Marion,” said Rodney Cabaness of Oasis Enterprises.
Smith Hafeli, a Midwest-based construction management and contracting firm, is leading the project’s design and development. Aaron R. Smith, president of Smith Hafeli, said the addition aligns with Marion’s continued growth.
“Offering a strong, recognizable lodging option like Hampton Inn fits well with Oasis’s vision and amplifies Marion’s growing appeal to both residents and travelers,” Smith said.
City and tourism officials noted that Marion’s hotels have maintained high occupancy rates in recent years, driven largely by youth sports tournaments and regional events. The Hampton Inn will help meet increasing demand while further supporting tourism-related economic development.
The project is one of two new hotels currently being built in Marion. Construction is also underway on a TownePlace Suites by Marriott, a 77-room property located on Halfway Road near Sam’s Club. Additional hotel developments are expected to be announced in the near future.
