New restaurant coming to former BG’s Deli location

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A new restaurant is coming to the former BG’s Deli location at 205 S. Plaza Way in Cape Girardeau.

Lorimont Commercial Real Estate said the 6,167-square-foot property, located along William Street across from Town Plaza, has been leased with an option.

BG’s Deli permanently closed Aug. 22, 2025, after 45 years in business. Its owners cited growing financial and operational challenges and said they decided not to renew the restaurant’s lease, which was set to expire at the end of September.

The owners thanked customers and employees for their support, noting that the restaurant hosted generations of first dates, family gatherings and even marriage proposals.

The name of the new restaurant and its anticipated opening date have not been announced.
