New retirement community in Cape Girardeau hosts ribbon cutting

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Newbridge Retirement Community in Cape Girardeau hosted a ribbing cutting Thursday morning and offered a chance to tour the new facility.

Community leaders and the public came out to support the newly remodeled facility. The goal is to provide a luxurious experience for residents, as well as for their visiting friends and family.

The 75,000 square foot facility focuses on lifestyle events and person-centered care in an effort to keep residents happy and active.

It is located at 1205 S. Mount Auburn and Kingshighway.

This resort-style retirement community will consist of 82 apartments with 46 assisted living private apartments, 12 second-person accommodations for couples and 36 special care units that are private apartments designed for memory care residents diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

The memory care portion will include two households designed to empower each resident to function at his or her best potential. The households will engage residents in activities adapted to their cognitive and physical abilities. Each household will have its own private dining, kitchen, nursing station and common living spaces.

There will be a library, café, salon and spa, pub with outdoor seating, fitness and therapy room, restaurant style dining with outdoor seating, fire pit, outdoor courtyards, art and gardening areas, theatre room and personal transportation services.
