Nine dogs found dead in Kentucky; Woman arrested on animal cruelty charges

GRAND RIVERS, Ky., (KBSI) – A Grand Rivers woman has been arrested after deputies discovered nine dead dogs during an animal cruelty investigation, authorities said.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies executed a search warrant Friday morning at a residence on East Tennessee Street with assistance from animal control. During the search, nine deceased dogs were found, and one surviving dog was rescued and placed into animal control’s care.
Michelle Godwin, 43, of Grand Rivers, was arrested and charged with nine counts of torture of a dog or cat.
The sheriff’s office said the case remains under investigation by Deputy Zackary Dunigan. Authorities noted that Godwin is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
