CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — All roads have reopened following a large emergency response Tuesday morning near Broadview Street and Spartech Drive, according to the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.
Officials said crews were initially dispatched for a possible hazardous materials release at a manufacturing facility.
The incident was later determined to be smoke caused by a malfunctioning machine, posing no threat to the public or the environment.
Fire officials said Spartech employees called 911 promptly, allowing responders to work alongside maintenance personnel to return the facility to normal operations.
