NORDYNE donates $30,000 in HVAC equipment to career center

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — NORDYNE has significantly increased its support for the Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center’s HVAC-R program, donating 30 new pieces of equipment for students to practice servicing.

The donation includes two mini-split condensers, six furnaces and 22 packaged units with capacities ranging from three to five tons, according to Dan Parker, instructor of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration class.

“These units will provide students with hands-on experience for years to come,” Parker said. “We can now conduct more in-depth training, such as testing subcooling and superheat airflow calculations.”

Prior to partnering with industry leaders, Parker would often demonstrate techniques himself while students observed.

Now, each student has a unit to work on.

Last school year, NORDYNE donated seven packaged heating and cooling systems to the career center.

The units were no longer operational and would have been scrapped due to outdated efficiency standards or obsolescence.

“We’re investing in the future of the industry and giving back to the community,” said George Scherr, distribution manager. “Providing students with the right tools and training is essential for their success.”

NORDYNE, a Rheem company, operates a 716,000-square-foot facility in Black River Industrial Park.
