North Park undergoes major renovations, including Veterans Memorial Plaza

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A major renovation project is underway at North Park, featuring the construction of a Veterans Memorial Plaza.

The plaza will include increased parking, restrooms and a pavilion with an outdoor kitchen and firepit gathering area. The project is funded by grants, donations and the county’s capital improvement budget.

Additionally, the park’s lake will undergo renovations, including the relocation of two shelters, construction of a new playground and restroom facility, and improved fishing access.

The projects are expected to be completed in 2026, with funding provided by grants from the Land Water Conservation Fund and the State of Missouri Transportation Alternative Program, as well as donations from local organizations.
