Notre Dame High School Volleyball Athlete Receives Major Honor
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Notre Dame high school volleyball player in Cape Girardeau achieves a major accomplishment.
Carlie Shamoun has earned her spot on the Exact 11 sports high school All- American volleyball team as they prepare to play in Italy.
The team is made up of high school volleyball players from across the states, showcasing their skills on one of volleyball’s biggest stages.
Carlie is the only player from the state of Missouri that made the roster.
“I feel like it means a lot of competitiveness and a good energy because last time I went, it was just like a lot of a lot of competitors,” says Shamoun describing what it means to be apart of this roster.
The exact 11 program has built a competitive atmosphere, offering these kids with the chance to work with Division One college coaches from some of the biggest programs in college sports to enhance their skills.
Carlie not only gets the chance to play in Italy next week, but she previously played with a team in London.
Exact sport executive director Barry Tarter says, “you have to have good character, good comportment, able to carry yourself, able to represent yourself and your team well and she(Carlie) definitely met that qualities.”
Carlie says she hopes this opportunity leads to even bigger opportunities in the future.
“I hope for more college coaches to talk to me and me to talk more to them and hopefully go division one. But I’m always open to anything.”
