Notre Dame Regional High School seeks to hire football coach after announcing new football program

Notre Dame

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Notre Dame Regional High school is making a big play for its future.

Announcements came today, October 28, 2025 that the school will soon have a football program. This marks the first time in the school’s history that students will get the chance to suit up and play under Friday night lights.

Notre Dame Regional High School President Tim Gardner shares details.

“We will be starting a football program in the fall of 2028. We will have a varsity team, in 2027, we’ll be starting our JV program and along with that, we will also be launching our marching band.

The school will start Junior Varsity Football in 2027 and Varsity in 2028.

Notre Dame Regional High School is a private day school in Cape Girardeau that offers students a catholic education. The school currently has over 400 students enrolled. Gardner shares the decision comes after years of growing interest from students and parents eager to see football part of Notre Dame’s athletic traditions.

“It is an area that we have been exploring for a while, and when we’ve tried to understand our community, understand our mission, and understand who our current students are, who our future students are, program like football and a program like marching band just made sense for Notre dame high school says Gardner.

The school is now accepting applications for the football program. Those interested in applying can email the school’s Athletic Director

Jeff Graviett at jeffgraviett@notredamecape.org.

“As we’re searching for our coaching staff, a new head coach, our athletic director, Jeff Graviett, is accepting resumes now. So we look forward to what the future is going to bring” says Gardner.
