Officer-involved shooting under investigation in St. Francois County

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – One person was injured in an officer-involved shooting in St. Francois County.

It happened at 2:19 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14.

A St. Francois County Sheriff’s deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop near Old Orchard Road.

The suspect failed to yield and a chase started, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers.

At the end of the chase, the sheriff’s deputy said the patrol car was rammed by the suspect’s vehicle and that shots were fired.

The suspect was struck by the gunfire.

Officers are the scene rendered first aid.

Emergency medical services personnel responded and took the suspect to an area hospital.

Criminal investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control are investigating.
