Old Town Cape announces façade improvement grant for downtown businesses

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Old Town Cape has launched its 2026 Façade Improvement Grant to support upgrades to commercial buildings in downtown Cape Girardeau.

The program offers matching funds of up to $1,500 per project, with a total of $7,500 available. The grant is open to business and property owners within the Old Town Cape district.

Officials said the program aims to enhance building appearance, support local businesses and encourage investment in the downtown area.

Eligible projects must be visible to the public and may include improvements such as new awnings, signage, lighting or paint. All required city permits and approvals must be obtained before work begins, and projects must be completed by the end of 2026.

Applications are due June 1.
