Old Town Cape earns accredited Main Street America designation
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Old Town Cape has been designated as an Accredited Main Street America program for meeting rigorous performance standards.
The designation recognizes Old Town Cape’s exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the Main Street Approach.
To qualify for the top-tier Accredited status, communities must demonstrate a proven track record of achieving outcomes in alignment with the Main Street Approach and exceptional performance in six key areas.
In 2024, Old Town Cape saw 21 new businesses, 112 new jobs and over $8.1 million invested in downtown Cape.
“We are thrilled to again receive accreditation from Missouri Main Street Connection and Main Street America,” said Liz Haynes, executive director of Old Town Cape. “Our staff, board of directors, community partners and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure our downtown community continues to thrive and grow.”
