Old Town Cape, Inc. announces Parade of Lights details

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Old Town Cape Inc. is gearing up for the 32cd annual Parade of Lights.
The Parade will be held December 1, 2024, beginning at 5 pm.
The parade route will begin at the intersection of Broadway and West End Boulevard and will continue East down Broadway, turning right onto Main Street, and ending at the parking lot across from Hutson’s Big Sandy Furniture.
The Parade of Lights theme for this year is “Christmas Magic in downtown Cape Girardeau!” chosen by Parade of Lights chairs, Kent and Vicki Zickfield, who own Zickfield’s Jewelry & Gifts, located at 29 N. Main Street in Downtown Cape Girardeau.
The Zickfields share what you can expect to see in this year’s parade “With a theme of, ‘Christmas Magic in Downtown Cape Girardeau’ we are expecting multiple sightings of happy and joyful elves excited for the holiday season or Frosty the Snowman’s Christmas magic along the parade route this year!”
Attendees can also expect to see a variety of holiday-themed floats from Cape Girardeau and surrounding area businesses and organizations, and rumor has it that Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance towards the end of the parade.
Parade of Lights participants are encouraged to decorate their entry with lights and have music playing.
Along the route, judges will be choosing entries for best theme, best appearance by a business or organization, best appearance by a not for profit, best music, best lighting, best marching band, and the chairman’s award.
