On the Missouri ballot in November: abortion rights, sports betting, and minimum wage
The General Election is on November 5, 2024. Abortion rights, sports betting and minimum wage are three of the six statewide issues for Missouri voters to decide on, in addition to the candidates running for office.
Constitutional amendment 2 would allow people in Missouri 21 years and older to participate in sports betting. If passed, the Missouri Gaming Commission would regulate licensed sports wagering, including a 10 percent tax on revenues that would be used for educational institutions.
Constitutional amendment three would remove Missouri’s abortion ban while also allowing abortion to be restricted or banned after fetal viability except to protect the life or health of the woman.
It would establish the individual right to make decisions about reproductive health care, including abortion and contraceptives.
Proposition A would amend Missouri law to increase minimum wage to $13.75 per hour starting on January 1, 2025, then increase to $15.00 per hour in 2026.
The minimum wage would then be adjusted based on the consumer price index.
Some employers would be exempt from the minimum wage increase, including governmental entities and school districts.
The proposition would also require employers to provide one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
