One person critically injured, second wounded in Carbondale shooting

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — One person suffered life-threatening injuries and another was wounded in a shooting early Friday morning in Carbondale, according to police.
Officers responded at approximately 12:53 a.m. to the 200 block of West Jackson Street after receiving a report of a gunshot victim.
Police located the first victim in a parking lot and said the individual was transported by ambulance to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
About seven minutes later, a second person with a gunshot wound was dropped off at a hospital by an acquaintance. Police said that individual was treated and is in stable condition.
According to investigators, the second gunshot victim is considered a suspect in the shooting of the first victim. Police said the two individuals know each other and have been involved in an ongoing dispute.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
