One person hospitalized in Saline County shooting

CARRIER MILLS, Ill., (KBSI) — Authorities are investigating a reported shooting in rural Saline County that left one person hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Saline County Sheriff Whipper Johnson confirmed the shooting occurred Tuesday evening on Legion Road west of Carrier Mills.

Abbott EMS responded to the scene and provided aid to the victim, who was later transported by helicopter to a hospital.

The Harrisburg Police Department, Carrier Mills Police Department and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services assisted in the response.

Legion Road was closed west of Carrier Mills during the investigation. No further information has been released.
