SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Route 34 in Cape Girardeau and Bollinger Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as contractor crews perform bridge maintenance and pavement improvements.
Motorists should anticipate work zones between Route 72 in Cape Girardeau County and County Road 302 in Marble Hill, Missouri, as work progresses. The entire length of the project limits will not be impacted simultaneously.
Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Route Z in Cape Girardeau County will be closed as construction crews replace the bridge over Hubble Creek.
This section of roadway is located from West Clark Street to County Road 222 near Gordonville, Missouri.
Weather permitting, work will take begin Monday, Aug. 24 with anticipated completion Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2027. The work zone will be in place 24 hours a day until the project is complete.
Overnight detours planned on Interstate 24 at Exit 7 in McCracken County on Saturday, Aug. 15 and Sunday, Aug. 16, weather permitting.
Traffic will be detoured through the Exit 7 interchange in both directions between U.S. 45/Lone Oak Road and U.S. 62/Alben Barkley Drive from 11 PM to 5 AM each night while Lumos Fiber conducts drilling work in the interstate median.
Watch for signs and follow law enforcement instructions to exit I-24 at Exit 7, then use the interchange ramps to re-enter I-24. Allow for extra travel time and use caution.
