SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) —Route ZZ in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction as construction crews perform an asphalt overlay.

This section of roadway is located from Route F to County Road 363 near Marston, Missouri.

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Aug. 24 through Monday, Sept. 28 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.  As construction is underway, flaggers will be present, and traffic will be guided through the work zone by a pilot car.

Overnight (between 9 PM & 6 AM) detours on I-24 (from Exit 27 to 31), all this week- Aug. 17-21 nightly, weather permitting, for milling and paving work.

Allow extra travel time and use caution.
WB: Take Exit 31 (Grand Rivers) → KY 453 and U.S. 62 → to return to I-24 WB at Exit 27.
EB: Take Exit 27 (KY Dam/Calvert City) → U.S. 62 and KY 453 → to return to I-24 EB at Exit 31.

Drivers in the Gordonville area should prepare for multiple road projects beginning Aug. 24, including the closure of the Highway Z bridges.

According to an update from the Gordonville Fire Protection District, the Missouri Department of Transportation is expected to begin closing the two bridges on Highway Z the week of Aug. 24.

Cape Girardeau County officials also confirmed paving work on County Road 227 and a section of County Road 226 is scheduled to begin Aug. 24. That project is expected to take approximately four to five days.
