(KBSI) The KY 453 Canal Bridge near the Livingston-Lyon County line will be closed to all traffic on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting, for a scheduled inspection.
Due to current weight restrictions, the bridge must be closed during the inspection process to ensure safety.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) crews will use an under-bridge inspection vehicle (UBIV) and climbers to perform a thorough, hands-on inspection.
The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic at about 3 p.m.
Route 25 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction as construction crews perform bridge maintenance. The section of roadway is located between Route 77 and Route 74 in Dutchtown, Missouri. Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Sept. 2 with an anticipated completion date of Tuesday, Dec.1.
Temporary traffic signals will be in place to guide traffic. The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
