CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, to discuss proposed improvements to the intersection of U.S. Route 61 and Route 80 near Matthews.
The meeting will be held at the Nutrition Center in Matthews, located at 301 W. Main St. Tentative plans call for construction to begin as early as June 2027, with work expected to last about nine months.
In Wayne County, Route Z near Wappapello will be closed to through traffic between Route D and County Road 519 on Tuesday, Feb. 10, while crews replace a culvert. The roadway will remain open to local traffic only.
In McCracken County, a contractor plans lane restrictions along U.S. 60/Park Avenue near Stuart Nelson Park Road beginning Wednesday, Feb. 4. Crews will remove a concrete island and install a turn lane.
Motorists can expect one-lane traffic in both directions along U.S. 60/Park Avenue. Drivers are advised to follow posted signs directing traffic into the right lane through the work zone.
The work is expected to continue through about Feb. 13, weather permitting.
