Following a winter storm which dropped more than 8 inches of snow and sleet across western Kentucky, District 1 snowfighters continue making progress on state-maintained routes.

Interstates and parkways are currently passable with two lanes of travel; however, shoulders have not yet been plowed. Most primary highways, or A routes, are also considered passable but not perfect. Motorists should use extra caution at intersections and in the medians of four-lane roads, where snow has accumulated.

Secondary and rural roadways, known as B and C routes, may remain snow-covered despite continued plowing and grading operations. Additional improvements will continue as conditions allow.

With temperatures remaining well below freezing, road conditions may fluctuate between day and night. Daytime sunshine can activate salt and allow some melting, but wet roadways may quickly refreeze as temperatures drop.
