(KBSI) Route 67 in Wayne County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as contractor rehabilitate the bridge over the Saint Francois River.
The bridge is located between Greenville Campground Road and Route FF near Greenville, Missouri.
Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, Aug. 18 at 7 a.m. with completion anticipated Wednesday, Dec. 31.
The Illinois Department of Transportation is now accepting applications for its Safe Routes to School program, which provides funding for projects that promote walking, biking and rolling to school.
The program, administered by IDOT using federal funds, aims to improve safety and reduce traffic around schools. This year’s grant cycle will distribute $12 million, with a maximum award of $250,000.
Eligible projects include:
– New sidewalks and traffic-calming measures
– Bicycle facilities and public education programs
– Improvements to increase accessibility for those with disabilities
Applications are due Oct. 13, with awards announced in the spring.
