CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Speed reductions and signal changes will be implemented on U.S. 60 at KY 305 in McCracken County, near the active Highway Safety Improvement Project work zone.

The work zone spans from mile point 5.9 to 6.6, near KY 305 and Rickman Road. Crews are working to convert the signalized intersection to a Reduced Conflict U-Turn (RCUT). Lane restrictions are in effect in both directions.

The speed limit through the work zone will be reduced to 35 mph. To help motorists adjust, KYTC will establish two 45-mph transition zones approximately one-quarter mile in advance of the 35-mph work zone. The new speed limits will take effect once signs are installed and will be subject to enforcement.

The traffic signal at the intersection of U.S. 60 and KY 305 will be placed in flashing mode.

Through traffic on U.S. 60 will not stop. Motorists will encounter a flashing yellow signal, indicating they may proceed through the intersection with caution.

Motorists on KY 305 will encounter a flashing red signal, requiring them to stop and yield to traffic on U.S. 60 before entering or crossing the highway.

These changes will remain in effect for the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting.

Route 102 in Mississippi County will be closed as construction crews replace the bridge over Black Bayou.

This section of roadway is located from Route YY to Route RB.

Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, June 29 with completion anticipated Saturday, Sept. 12 While work is underway, this roadway will remain closed 24 hours a day.
