Orange Barrel Report November 25

KBSI FOX23 News at 9 p.m.

(KBSI) The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) has announced that lane restrictions on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis will remain in place until around mid-December.

Additional repairs were necessary to complete Phase 1 of the bridge rehab project, including the fabrication and construction of multiple beams for the bridge’s substructure.

Crews will be working Saturdays and Sundays, including this upcoming weekend, to complete the current work. Once finished, all four lanes on the I-24 Ohio River Bridge will be reopened to traffic until Phase 2 begins in early March 2026.

Please slow down and use caution in the work zone. Expect heavier traffic volumes along I-24 starting Wednesday, Nov. 26, and continuing throughout the week due to holiday travel.

Northbound Interstate 55 in Ste. Genevieve County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.

This section of roadway is located from mile marker 140.5 to mile marker 142.4.

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Dec. 1 and Tuesday, Dec. 2 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The work zone will remain in place until the work is complete.

The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
