TENNESSEE, (KBSI) —Motorists traveling on I-40 and I-640 in Knox County should be aware of upcoming road construction activities that will have an impact on traffic.

Beginning at approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, crews will begin bridge inspection of the ramp from I-40 East to I-640 West, just east of downtown Knoxville. To allow crews to perform this work safely, there will be intermittent rolling roadblocks along I-40 East, I-40 West, I-640 East to I-40 East and West, and I-40 West to I-640 West. The right lane of the ramp from I-40 East to I-640 West will also be closed.

These rolling roadblocks will be in place for approximately 15 minutes each and will be completed by 7 p.m. that same day.

In addition, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Monday, October 5, the left lane will be closed on I-40 East and West at the I-640 interchange. At the same time, the right lane of the ramp from I-40 East to I-640 West will be closed.

Also, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, the right lane of the ramp from I-40 East to I-640 West will be closed.

Route U in Stoddard and Butler counties will be reduced while Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

This section of roadway is located from Route H in Stoddard County to Route CC in Butler County.

Weather permitting, work will take place Thursday, Oct. 1 through Monday, Oct. 5 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Starting Monday, Oct. 5 at approximately 9 a.m., the county road department will begin significant road repair work on Copperas Springs Rd. (CR #1133) between the intersection of Blackburn Church Rd. (CR # 1134) and the Butler Creek Bridge located at MP 3.4. The planned work will involve the replacement of several failing cross drains and areas of base failure in preparation for paving this section of road in the near future.
The road will be closed to through traffic while managing access for local residents. The work is estimated to last two to three weeks pending weather conditions
