(KBSI) A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has closed a section of KY 125/Union City Highway in Fulton County starting today.

Work will take place between KY 1099 and KY 1463, or mile points 5.386 to 6.067, in the City of Hickman.

This is part of a utility relocation project expected to last approximately five days, weather permitting.

Motorists are asked to self-detour.

The contractor will provide local access to residents affected by the closure.

Southbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.

This section of roadway is located from mile marker 17 to mile marker 15.

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Oct. 13 through Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The work zones will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
