Orange Barrel Report September 29
(KBSI) A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is planning nighttime lane restrictions along Interstate 24 in Marshall County, starting Monday, Oct. 6.
The work zone spans from the Exit 27/U.S. 62 (Kentucky Dam) interchange to the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge, or mile points 26.50 to 29.352.
The first phase of the project involves paving work, during which traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction during nighttime hours, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
This phase is expected to last approximately one week.
Following paving, temporary barrier walls will be installed near the Exit 27 overpass and the I-24 eastbound on-ramp at U.S. 62, near Love’s Travel Stop.
Once the barriers are in place, traffic will shift to a new pattern, but all lanes on I-24 will remain open.
This phase of work is expected to continue through mid-December, weather permitting.
Saturday, October 4th, 2025, will be the annual Vienna Fall Festival Parade beginning at 10 am. There will be city street closures for the parade route throughout Vienna, this will also include parts of US Rt 45 and IL Rt 146, Including the four way intersection.
Please do not move barricades and barricade tape that are setup through the parade. To allow for marching bands and parade entries to turn on the west and south side of the old courthouse square, there will be No parking on the west and south and southeast sides of the square. Tractors in the parade will be turning at the fourway and go east to the City Park for the FFA tractor show.
The parade route begins at N. 4th and Green St. and will go to N. 6th on Green St., then turn left and cross Il Rt 146 and pass the new Johnson County Courthouse and Administration Building, then turn left onto W. Main St. to the west side of the old courthouse square (5th St.) and then passes the parade judges stand in front of the library, then onto East Main St. to US Rt 45 and then north thru the four way intersection and ending at the Vienna High School. On the map, the parade route is in red.
Please plan alternative routes if you are travelling through Vienna that morning. Expect heavy traffic delays while the parade is underway and after the parade is over until traffic can resume back to normal.
Please be patient and come enjoy the parade!
