Paducah K9 locates drugs during traffic stop

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face multiple charges after police K9 Bary locates drugs during a traffic stop.

According to the Paducah Police Department on November 9, 2024, around 5:51 pm officers conducted a traffic stop on the 2200 block of Bridge Street in Paducah.

During the traffic stop Saturday evening, Officer’s found the driver, Christopher Wray, was driving with a suspended license stemming from a previous DUI conviction. Wray was also found to be wanted, having multiple warrants from McCracken County.

During the arrest, Wray indicated to officers he was armed, and officers located a loaded 9mm handgun in a holster on his waist. A check of his criminal history showed that Wray is a convicted felon which does not allow him to possess a firearm.

Paducah Police K9 Bary indicated to the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle and officers found suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and a digital scale.

The female passenger, Robyn Smith, then told officers that the drug items belonged to her.

Christopher D. Wray, age 53, of Paducah, was arrested on charges of Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, driving on a DUI Suspended License, and warrants for a Parole Violation and other traffic offenses

Robyn L. Smith, age 38, of Paducah, arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree, (Methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both suspects were taken to McCracken County Jail.
