Paducah man arrested after high-speed chase in Calloway County

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man faces several chrages after a high speed chase in Calloway County.

Ke’Shawn M. Scott, 22, of Paducah faces charges of speeding 26 mile per hour or greater over speed limit, reckless driving, operating on suspended operator license, fleeing or evading police 1st degree-motor vehicle (Class D felony), criminal mischief 1st degree (Class D felony), wanton endangerment 1st degree (Class D felony), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies were operating a radar unit while stationary on Hwy. 641N near Stewart Cemetery Road on March 2 around 11:55 p.m.

They tried to stop a vehicle that was speeding, but the driver increased speed as the deputy activated the emergency equipment.

The driver then turned off his headlamps and tried to elude the stop.

The chase continued into Marshall County at a high rate of speed where officers from multiple agencies including the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office joined to assist.

The driver continued onto the southbound ramp of I-69 interchange where it the vehicle crashed with a guard rail. He tried to continue when he lost control again striking the guardrail a second time.

Sheriff’s deputies say Scott had no due-regard of other’s safety.

After traveling on I-69 for a short distance he pulled to the right and stopped.

A passenger was in the vehicle.

Scott was arrested and taken to the Calloway County Detention Facility.
