Paducah man facing charges after headstone stolen from cemetery

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man faces felony charges after he is accused of stealing a headstone from a cemetery.

Shannon Herron, 44, faces charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition over $1,000 (Class D felony) and violating graves (Class D felony).

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing headstone from a cemetery. This was reported by the family of the person deceased.

On May 10, Herron was arrested for the theft.

The granite headstone, valued at $5,000, was located in the back of Herron’s truck, according to the sheriff’s office.

The copper plaque had been removed from the headstone and was found at another location.

Herron was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
