Paducah man facing several charges after drug investigation

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man faces several charges after a drug investigation in McCracken County.

David Darnell, 23, of Paducah faces charges of no registration plates, no registration receipt, operating on a suspended or revoked license, reckless driving, trafficking in marijuana 8oz to 5lbs, trafficking in a 3rd degree-controlled substance-Xanax, criminal mischief 1st, fleeing or evading the police 1st degree and wanton endangerment 1st degree.

McCracken County sheriff’s deputies arrested Darnell Wednesday evening.

Detectives and sheriff’s deputies tried to stop a vehicle on Kentucky Dam Road after a drug investigation.

Sheriff’s detectives say they just saw the driver pick up a package that was suspected to contain illegal drugs. Detectives say the driver of the vehicle drove away briefly and at one point deputies say he swerved at them before coming to a stop in the 6000 block of Kentucky Dam Road.

While deputies were arresting Darnell, his vehicle rolled forward and struck a sheriff’s office vehicle.

During a search of Darnell’s person

Detectives say they found several Xanax pills on Darnell and about three pounds of marijuana inside the vehicle.

Darnell was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

The investigation continues. Detectives say other arrests are forthcoming.
