Paducah man facing theft charge after armed robbery at Lone Oak business

LONE OAK, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man faces theft and a false report charges after sheriff’s deputies responded to a business for an armed robbery.

Janvi Patel, 19, of Paducah faces charges of false report an incident to law enforcement and theft by unlawful taking or disposition (all others) $500 to $1,000.

Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a business in the Lone Oak community for an armed robbery on January 25 at 9:14 p.m.

It was reported that a male dressed in black had placed a handgun to the victim’s head in the parking lot and demanded money.

McCracken County Sheriff’s Office detectives began investigating. They spent hours reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area.

Patel was interviewed at the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office on January 29.

During the interview, sheriff’s deputies say Patel admitted that she had made up the story and had taken the money.

Patel was cited and released to court.
