MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah man faces a theft charge after sheriff’s deputies say he stole cash from a man.

Brian Meredith, 46, of Paducah faces a charge of theft by unlawful taking (all others) over $1000/under $10,000. The charge is a Class D Felony.

McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Duck RV Park on Puryear Drive on June 12 for a theft.

The victim told them a male had taken $2,500 cash from his home and left on foot.

The suspect was known by the victim and had been working side jobs around the victim’s home.

Deputies responded to the area to try to locate him.

Senior K-9 Deputy Steve Croft saw the suspect running behind a business on John Puryear Drive.

Deputy Croft drove behind the business and got out with his partner, K-9 Oscar.

Deputies say he ran into a thick brush area and refused to come out.

Other deputies responded to the scene and detained the suspect.

Deputies say the cash that was taken was found in Meredith’s wallet in his pocket.

They say he admitted to taking the cash from the victim.
