Paducah man killed in collision with trailer at Coleman Road intersection

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) – A Paducah man died Thursday morning after a traffic collision at the intersection of Coleman Road and Coleman Crossing Circle, police said.
Paducah police reported that a 2024 Trail Master moped, driven by 60-year-old Erich Sternberg of Paducah, disregarded a stop sign and struck the side of a trailer being pulled by a 2024 Ford F-250.
Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Sternberg was pronounced dead at the scene by McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton. The driver of the truck, 56-year-old Earnest J. Scarritt of Arlington, Kentucky, was not reported injured.
The roadway was closed for about two and a half hours while Paducah police detectives and the Collision Reconstruction Team investigated. Assisting agencies included the Paducah Fire Department, McCracken County Emergency Management, Mercy Regional Ambulance Service and the McCracken County Coroner’s Office.
