Paducah man wanted on multiple warrants arrested after struggle with Graves County deputies

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A Paducah man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested early Wednesday following a traffic stop and struggle with Graves County deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies stopped a vehicle around 3 a.m. on U.S. 45 north of Mayfield. The driver allegedly provided a false name and date of birth belonging to another person before deputies identified him as 32-year-old Javarrius L. Flemons.

The sheriff’s office said Flemons had several active warrants from McCracken County and had previously fled from officers attempting to serve them.

As deputies attempted to handcuff Flemons, he allegedly broke away and tried to run. Deputies caught him in the middle of the four-lane highway and took him into custody following a struggle.

Deputies Drew Prusaczyk and Tanner Bazarnyj suffered minor injuries during the arrest.

Investigators said they seized several ounces of marijuana, scales, packaging materials, three cellphones and cash from the vehicle.

Flemons was wanted on charges including receiving stolen property valued at more than $10,000, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, probation violations and failure to appear.

He now faces additional charges of identity theft, second or subsequent offense trafficking in marijuana, third-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and two counts of third-degree assault.

Flemons was initially taken to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being transferred to an out-of-county detention facility.
