Paducah officer honored for bravery in active shooter incident
PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A Paducah police officer has been recognized for her extraordinary bravery during an active shooter incident last month.
Officer Brooke Adams responded to a report of a missing adult on June 29, 2025, and encountered a man matching the description at the Greyhound bus station.
As she approached, Adams saw the man actively shooting at bystanders. She quickly confronted the armed suspect and took him into custody, preventing further harm to innocent bystanders.
The Paducah Police Department says Adams’ swift actions undoubtedly saved lives and exemplify the highest standards of courage, duty and service.
Adams was awarded the Meritorious Service Award, the department’s second-highest honor, at a recent Paducah Board of Commissioners meeting.
