Paducah woman arrested after police say she stole pickup truck

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – A Paducah woman faces a theft charge after police say she stole a pickup truck from a man who gave her a ride.

Carrie F. Hernandez, 31, of Paducah faces a charge of theft by unlawful taking (automobile $1,000-$10,000).

A man told police Thursday morning that his black 1989 GMC pickup truck had been stolen from the parking lot of a motel on Hinkleville Road. He said he suspected a woman to whom he gave a ride Wednesday evening.

Officer Dana Davie spotted the truck at 7:35 a.m. in the parking lot of a different motel on Joe Clifton Drive.

Police say woman suspected of the theft, Carrie F. Hernandez, was driving the truck, and was arrested on a charge of theft by unlawful taking.

She was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Paducah police recovered a stolen truck and arrested the driver within 25 minutes of the owner reporting the theft.
