Paducah woman arrested on charges of criminal abuse

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A Paducah woman was arrested on Feb. 5, 2025, on charges of criminal abuse related to allegations that she left her children alone with a man who sexually and physically abused them.
Darian Scheffer, 27, was taken into custody by detectives from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Henry County, Tenn., Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest stems from an investigation that began in December 2024, when the Benton County, Tenn., Sheriff’s Office notified McCracken County authorities of an alleged sexual assault reported by two sisters who said they were abused while visiting a residence in McCracken County.
Gregory Scheffer, who is accused of rape, criminal abuse, incest and sodomy, was previously arrested in connection with the allegations.
The investigation revealed that Darian Scheffer allegedly left her children alone with Gregory Scheffer for extended periods, despite the children reporting physical abuse to her.
Darian Scheffer was charged with three counts of criminal abuse 2nd degree, child 12 or under.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in the arrest.
