Parade of Lights kicks off on Sunday: Here’s what to know when parking

Parade Of Lights Schedule

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – There are some parking restrictions to be aware of this weekend for the Cape Parade of Lights.

Bring your coats and park your cars accordingly as it is an annual tradition for Cape Girardeau to kick off the seasonal spirit.

This Sunday December 1st at 5 p.m. will begin the Parade of Lights.

Cape Girardeau Police Department already has signs up in place to make sure drivers know where a valid place to park is.

Starting Sunday at noon if your vehicle is parked in a no parking zone and it is not moved Cape Girardeau Police Department will have the ability to tow.

Cape Girardeau Police Department will be on scene blocking streets, directing traffic, and doing whatever they need to keep everyone safe.

Public Information Officer Bobby Newton tells us what roads will be shut down for the parade.

“So, Broadway from West End all the way down to main will be completely shut down for the parade. And then from Park Drive down to William Street on, Main Street will be shut down as well,” said Newton.

When the parade is over Cape Girardeau Police Department will start pulling those no parking signs and opening the roadways back up.

For further details on the roadways that are closed you can find those on Cape Girardeau’s Police Department Facebook page.
