Parcel investigation leads to methamphetamine trafficking arrests in Paducah

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Two men were arrested Wednesday after investigators recovered more than 2 pounds of suspected methamphetamine from a parcel shipped to Paducah, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives worked with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to investigate a package sent from Compton, California, to a Paducah residence.

Investigators said they watched James Knight, 32, of Apple Valley, California, and Tylor A. Crews, 33, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, retrieve the parcel.

Deputies stopped their vehicle around 1:38 p.m. on South 22nd Street after observing alleged traffic violations. The sheriff’s office said a police dog alerted to the possible presence of drugs.

During a search, detectives reportedly found marijuana on Knight and recovered the parcel from the vehicle. Investigators said the package contained more than 2 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

Knight was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic offenses.

Crews was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Both men were taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Paducah police, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration assisted with the investigation.

The charges are accusations. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
