Cape Girardeau police hold National Night Out in downtown Cape
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau Police Department hosted National Night Out at the downtown parking lot at the corner of Main and Independence on August 1 from 5-9 p.m.
Several businesses in the community along with the Cape Girardeau Police Department were there.
Several food vendors along with games for the kids and live entertainment from a band and a petting zoo.
“I don’t think I could ask for a better night,” said Bobby Newton, Public Information Officer with the Cape Girardeau Police Department. “The community came out, supported us. I saw a lot of smiles, a lot of kids enjoying themselves. So I think it was a great night.”
Officer Newton says he’s already started planning for next year’s National Night Out to include even more activities than this year.
“That’s what this is all about is bringing the community together with the police department and bridging that gap, getting to know each other and just having a fun night,” said Newton.
FOX23 was a sponsor of National Night Out with the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
