Parks and Rec Day celebrated at Osage Centre
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Wednesday was Parks and Rec Day at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau. The gymnasium was packed with people of all ages celebrating July being parks and recreation month.
Penny Williams is the Recreation Division Manager for the City of Cape.
“We’re so excited to be celebrating Parks and Recreation Month,” said Williams.
The Parks and Rec Department at the Osage Centre also celebrated Playmo’s 10th birthday, an annual tradition since Playmo was first introduced to the public.
“As we’re celebrating Parks and Rec month as you know, parls and recreation is all about bringing our community together, and our theme this year is where our community grows,” said Williams.
The free event included ice cream, prizes, crafts and games and a visit from the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.
“Just letting the community know that we’re out here for them,” said Brock Austin, a driver/operator for the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.
Different vendors, activities and the mascots for different teams such as Rowdy, Playmo, and Captain Catfish, made an appearance.
