Pedestrian dies after hit by 2 vehicles in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A pedestrian died after being hit by two vehicles in Carbondale early on Friday, April 7.

Carbondale police officers responded to West Walnut Street at Poplar Street regarding a multi-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian around 2:39 a.m.

Police say a pedestrian had been struck by two passing vehicles.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for treatment. The pedestrian died at the hospital as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.

It was determined that intoxication was not a factor related to the drivers of the involved vehicles.
