Perry County School District #32 works to recover from storm damage

PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — Cleanup efforts continue at the Perry County School District 32 campus after Friday night’s storm caused extensive damage to all buildings.

Superintendent Dr. Fara Jones said returning to in-person instruction is the top priority, with classes canceled through March 21.

District administrators are working on a plan to resume classes, led by Chief Academic Officer Jane Narrow.

“We are committed to returning our students to in-person learning as soon as possible,” Dr. Jones said. “We know that’s what’s best for kids.”

A disaster restoration team is securing buildings, and structural engineers are assessing damage. The high school facility sustained major damage, while the middle school is still being assessed.

Teachers and staff are checking in with families to determine storm-related needs. The district is grateful for community support and patience.

Dr. Jones said regular updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
