Perryville man arrested after shots fired in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 2800-block of Whitener Street early Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of a Perryville, Missouri, man.
Officers arrived on scene around 3 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired via ShotSpotter and from several citizens. They observed a vehicle leaving the parking lot and conducted a traffic stop, identifying the driver as 31-year-old Jamond Rush.
A narcotics-trained K9 was deployed and alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of illegal narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia, a loaded handgun with an extended magazine, and damaged a window to the apartment building from a fired round.
Rush was taken into custody and formally charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, a class C felony. He is being held on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
