Perryville police seek suspect in early morning armed robbery

PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — UPDATE: A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Perryville convenience store, police said.
Officers were dispatched about 5:45 a.m. Sept. 24 to the QuickStop at 1236 W. St. Joseph Street after reports of a robbery. Surveillance video showed a masked man entering the store about 5:40 a.m., displaying a long-bladed knife and stealing a bank bag from under the counter before fleeing in a black sedan, possibly a Nissan, toward Missouri 51, according to police.
Investigators identified the suspect as Aaron Grant France, also known as Clayton Leon Chandler, who is homeless. With assistance from the Perry County and Ste. Genevieve County sheriff’s offices, France was taken into custody, interviewed and arrested.
France has been charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held without bond pending a court hearing.
“I would like to thank the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Department for the assistance in this investigation,” Chief Direk Hunt said. “In addition, I want to acknowledge the diligent teamwork of our patrol officers and detective who worked quickly and effectively to identify the suspect and get him apprehended.”
Authorities noted all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
A suspect is in custody following an armed robbery early Friday at a convenience store in Perryville, police said.
Officers responded about 5:45 a.m. Sept. 26 to the QuickStop at 1236 W. St. Joseph Street after reports of a robbery. Surveillance footage showed a white male, about 6 feet to 6-foot-3, wearing a long-sleeved off-white shirt, blue jeans with a green nylon belt, gloves and a T-shirt wrapped around his head, entering the store about 5:40 a.m.
Police said the suspect displayed a long-bladed knife, threatened the attendant and stole a bank bag from under the counter before fleeing in a black sedan, possibly a Nissan, toward Missouri 51.
The Perryville Police Department confirmed Friday afternoon that a suspect had been taken into custody. A further update will be released when a warrant is issued.
